If you’re planning a Church wedding in Goa, there are quite a few beautiful and lesser-known venues that offer both charm and history. One of them sits quietly atop Monte Hill — usually locked, hidden away, but worth the climb for its sweeping views over the Salcette countryside and the town of Margao. It’s officially known as the Chapel of Calcada de Nossa Senhora de Piedade, but most locals simply call it Our Lady of Mercy.

Clayton and Ann chose this quiet, wind-swept chapel for their Catholic wedding ceremony — a setting that felt intimate, personal, and completely theirs. Clayton, originally from Goa, now lives in Bahrain. Ann flew in from Switzerland. The two met through work, and their wedding was small but deeply meaningful — a few friends, close family, and the kind of sincerity that doesn’t need grand gestures to make a point.

This Church wedding in Goa at the Chapel of Nossa Senhora de Piedade was an intimate and heartfelt celebration filled with rich traditions, breathtaking views, and a sense of timeless romance that truly captured the spirit of the region.

When you think of weddings in Goa, you might imagine beachside mandaps or lavish resorts. But a Church wedding in Goa offers a deeply rooted, tradition-rich experience, steeped in history, framed by colonial architecture, and carried by a strong sense of community.

I’ve had the chance to photograph several Catholic weddings here, and they all bring this unique blend of Goan warmth and Portuguese heritage. Clayton and Ann’s ceremony was full of those small, quiet moments that tell the real story — Clay resting his head on Ann’s shoulder in the chapel, the soft light filtering through old windows, and the calm before the celebration.

And then there was Father Valmiki Dias — definitely one of the coolest priests I’ve photographed. In black robes and a Jesus Army beret, he later joined us at the reception venue for a photo that had to be taken.

The party followed at The Leela Goa, on the sprawling lawns near Cavelossim beach. Before the guests arrived, we ran down to the water for a barefoot couple shoot — the waves, the sky, the joy all still fresh in the air.

For any couple planning a Church wedding in Goa, Clayton and Ann’s story is proof that simple can still be unforgettable—showcasing how heartfelt moments, meaningful rituals, and close family ties create memories that last a lifetime.

If you are planing a church wedding in Goa there are quite a few places to hold the ceremony. There is a small chapel at the top of a hill which remains locked most of the time. Nevertheless, it is worth coming up here for a spectacular view of the Salcette countryside in general and the town of Margao in particular. The road leads up to Monte Hill and the Chapel of Calcada de Nossa Senhora de Piedade, which is popularly known as Our Lady of Mercy. Clayton and Ann chose this little quaint chapel on top of the hip for their wedding in Goa but they traveled far to come here. The groom is originally from Goa but now lives in Bahrain and the couple met through their work contacts. He brought her all the way from Switzerland.
